I believe that artists can hold a mirror to the difficult challenges we face as human beings, individually and collectively. Through art, we can raise questions that elude simplistic answers. We can offer a nuanced perspective on the issues that divide us.

My recent work is a meditation on history as it manifests through landscape, both real and imagined. By recreating filmic images of post-apocalyptic worlds, I study contemporary society through our fictional projections of the future. By recreating the landscapes in which we memorialize history, I learn about the present from the past.

Both projects investigate the cultural mythologies that shape our collective identity, and seek the truth obliquely, through the narratives we spin to contain it.
